Government shut down
In today's world, many depend on their job and companies for income. As we grow up, we must have and keep jobs to have an income for or wants and needs. The older we get, the more income we need to cover at least our needs. What if someone losses their job but still need income to cover their needs?
According to the article about government shutdown by Alicia Parlapiano and Karen Yourish, "The furlough would apply only to about half of the department’s 740,000 civilian workers, but military personnel also would not be paid unless Congress voted to pay them." This is indicating that 740,000 people would lose their jobs and be without a job. Wow! That's a lot of people who would have no income and no way of providing for their families or themselves. People rely on their jobs so much now a days because that is how they survive.
Another point the article makes is, "More than three-quarters of the roughly 70,000 employees would be furloughed. Unlike with previous shutdowns, national parks would remain open, but some services that require staffing, like campgrounds and full-service restrooms, would not operate. Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo would be closed beginning on Monday." This means that even though some places would not completely shut down, they would close a day or two or be open for less hours. Therefore, people would still be losing part of their job. They would be putting less hours in, which means less income because of course, the government isn't going to pay someone for something they don't do. Even though some people wouldn't completely lose their jobs, it would still affect their income because if they are used to working 5 days a week and get cut down one day, their pay will be less than what they are used to.
I currently have a job at a daycare center and even though childcare is almost a need in today's society, sometimes we get cut hours because we don't have many kids. This affects my income in a big way because I already only put in a few hours and I don't make much money and get payed every two weeks. I am currently looking for a new job because this has effected my income and I need this income to take care of my needs
