School Uniforms

School uniforms have became a big debate. So many people are for it, as many are not for it. Should public schools have uniforms? There's a lot of pros and cons about school uniforms. According to the article "Do Uniforms Make Schools Better" by Marian Wide some of the reasons for school uniforms are dress code, to help prevent gangs, and to improve attendance. I believe these reasons could be right.

For so many years, there has been  debates on whether school uniforms should be official or not. One of the main reasons is dress code. According to Marian Wide, author of the same article, "Generally, dress codes are much less restrictive than uniform policies. Sometimes, however, dress codes are nearly as strict, as in the case of a middle school in Napa, California. This particular school’s dress code required students to wear solid colors and banned images or logos on clothes. When a student was sent to detention for wearing socks adorned with the image of Winnie-the-Pooh’s friend Tigger, the girl’s family sued the school district for violating her freedom of speech." Some schools are very strict on dress codes but not all students follow the dress code, which is one of the main reasons schools get uniforms. School uniforms may not seem like such a bad idea for some, but this girl from Napa, California got sent to detention for some socks that were causing no harm to anyone. Clearly, school uniforms has it's pros and cons.
