Fake News is a big hit now a days. Fake News is when someone makes a public post about something that isn't true, whether it's about a person or a thing. Fake News is everywhere, simply walking down the street or reading the newspaper. A lot of times, this is used for attention and promotion.
In the article "Fake News", it is talked about a "self-cleaning oven". As the article says, "In the early days of Twitter, people would call it a 'self-cleaning oven', because yes there were falsehoods, but the community would quickly debunk them," Obviously, this is fake news! False advertisements get people all the time. There may be advertisements going on about this self-cleaning oven and people might actually buy this fake news and be interested in it. Like i said, this is used to get attention.
Fake News is everywhere, specially social media. There's so much fake advertisement, nobody knows what to believe anymore. Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook are all guilty of participating in these fake news. As it says in the article, "Just because someone else is using the term to mean something different doesn't mean it loses its value," he says. "If someone starts calling a telephone a banana, and has a very big megaphone, doesn't mean that the rest of us should stop calling a telephone a telephone." This is true because sometimes fake news gets mistaken for this. A lot of times, we notice that someone has started a new trend by changing the name of something and get it mistaken for fake news.
Sometimes fake news is necessary, to spice life up a little bit. Social media is always showing the same things, therefore fake news should be thrown in there every once in a while. Fake News can also start a lot of drama and disagreements though, and even though that's not good, sometimes that's what keeps social media interesting right? Especially if it's between celebrities and let's be honest, we all love fake news.
